Para ello, es necesario contar con información financiera, confiable, útil y oportuna.
La contabilidad, nos proporciona información muy valiosa para poder tomar decisiones, nos permite organizar todas las operaciones que se realizan en un negocio, expresándolas en términos monetarios.
La contabilidad, es una actividad cuyo objetivo fundamental consiste en la registración de “hechos”, debe registrar todos aquellos “hechos”, que de una u otra forma afectan el patrimonio de nuestra empresa.

La definición de empresa permite "visualizar" a toda empresa como una entidad conformada por elementos tangibles (elementos humanos, bienes materiales, capacidad financiera y de producción, transformación y/o prestación de servicios) e intangibles (aspiraciones, realizaciones y capacidad técnica); cuya finalidad es la satisfacción de las necesidades y deseos de su mercado meta para la obtención de una utilidad o beneficio.
